Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur (Nepali: भक्तपुर Bhaktapur ), truly means Place of fans. Otherwise called Bhadgaon or Khwopa (Newar: ख्वप Khwopa), it is an ancient or old Newar city in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, around 8 miles (13 km) from the capital city, Kathmandu. It is situated in Bhaktapur District in the Bagmati Zone.   Bhaktapur was the biggest of the three Newar kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley, and was the capital of Nepal amid the colossal 'Malla Kingdom' until the second 50% of the 15th century. Today it is the third biggest city in the Kathmandu Valley, with a populace of more than 80,000, of which the larger part are still Newars. Verifiably more confined than the other two kingdoms, Kathmandu and Patan, Bhaktapur has a particularly distinctive type of language.
